Stitch Summer Delight, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — nodding blue bellflowers on a slender stem with a pale butterfly hovering just above, and long grass blades sweeping through the design. Airy and light on white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: bellflowers were said to ring softly at dusk to call the fairies home, and a butterfly nearby meant they were listening.

Why this kit: a delicate, quick-to-stitch summer piece with only 24 colours — lovely for a bedroom, bathroom or as a gift.

Kit includes: 18-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Anchor 100% cotton threads in 24 colours, a needle, a symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the blue bells, then the butterfly's wings, and finish with the stems and grasses using the symbol chart.

Finished size: 20×28 cm (7.9×11 in). A light summer picture to frame and a pretty gift for garden lovers.

    Summer delight review

    I am pleased with the summer delight kit. I haven't started it yet, but look forward to stitching it. Plan to do on 14 count fabric versus the 16 count fabric that came in the kit.
