Stitch Raspberries with Butterfly, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — ripe red raspberries on leafy canes stretch across a long panel while two pale butterflies rest among them. Soft greens and fresh reds give it the delicate feel of a botanical watercolour. Based on artwork by Elena Bazanova.

A little stitcher's folklore: country people used to say that a butterfly landing on the fruit meant the berries were at their sweetest. Stitchers say it's the perfect sign that it's time to put the kettle on and start stitching.

Why this kit: a light, summery still life with a lovely long shape for a kitchen or dining room wall. It pairs beautifully with the other fruit panels in the same series.

Kit includes: 18-count Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Anchor 100% cotton threads in 35 colours, a needle, a symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Stitch the raspberries first, then the leaves, and finish with the butterflies and the finest details. Working from one end to the other keeps the long design easy to manage.

Finished size: 59×20 cm (23.2×7.9 in). A fresh panoramic picture for the kitchen and a lovely gift for fruit and garden lovers.

    I am enjoying working this project. The kit came as shown and described in the listing. The grid guide comes enlarged in 8 panels which is so helpful. It is my first really large project and the set up of the kit has made it approachable and fun.
