Stitch Tulips Vase, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — a glass vase overflows with pink, purple, white and cream tulips, frilly peony-tulips and little blue forget-me-nots, with a sprig of bleeding hearts arching over the top. Based on artwork by Elena Bazanova.

A little stitcher's folklore: in Holland it was said that a vase of tulips on the table in spring would bring a year of plenty, and the frillier the petals, the better the luck.

Why this kit: a joyful spring bouquet that brightens any room, and a beautiful gift for Mother's Day or a birthday.

Kit includes: 18-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Anchor 100% cotton threads in 40 colours, a needle, a symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the darkest purple and pink tulips in the middle, then work out to the pale blooms and forget-me-nots, and finish with the glass vase using the symbol chart.

Finished size: 33.5×26 cm (13.2×10.2 in). A spring bouquet that never fades and a lovely gift for Mother's Day.
