Stitch Etude with Strawberries, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — ripe red strawberries, white blossoms and fresh green leaves trail along a long, narrow panel, like a summer sketch from a botanical notebook. Based on artwork by Elena Bazanova.

A little stitcher's folklore: strawberries were once called the fruit of love, and a double strawberry shared between two people was said to make them fall in love. Stitchers say this border has more than enough to share.

Why this kit: a sweet, summery panoramic still life for the kitchen or breakfast room. It sits beautifully with the cherries, raspberries and apples from the same series.

Kit includes: 18-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Anchor 100% cotton threads in 34 colours, a needle, a symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the strawberries and their seeds, then stitch the white blossoms and the leaves, working from one end of the panel to the other.

Finished size: 50×14.5 cm (19.7×5.7 in). A long summer panel for the kitchen and a charming gift for anyone who loves the garden.
