Stitch Poppies, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — bright orange poppies nod on slender stems above a cluster of purple pansies and little white daisies, with soft green grasses fading into a pale background. It has all the warmth of a summer meadow.

A little stitcher's folklore: country people used to say that poppies only grow where the ground has been loved, and a vase of them on the table brings sweet sleep to the house.

Why this kit: a joyful, sunny wildflower design that brightens any room. The mix of orange, purple and white makes it lively to stitch, and it's a lovely summer gift.

Kit includes: 18-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Anchor 100% cotton threads in 45 colours, a needle, a symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the orange poppy heads, then stitch the purple flowers and daisies, and finish with the stems, grasses and pale background using the symbol chart.

Finished size: 28.5×28 cm (11.2×11 in). A cheerful meadow picture for the kitchen or sunroom and a bright gift for flower lovers.
