Stitch Santa's Express, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — a gleaming black-and-red steam engine with a Christmas wreath on its front pulls into a snowy forest station, while Santa leans out with a wave and a pile of presents, a sleigh and a little tree wait beside the track. Metallic thread adds festive sparkle.

A little stitcher's folklore: railway children used to say that the first train through the snow on Christmas Eve is always Santa's, delivering to the houses the reindeer can't reach.

Why this kit: a festive scene train lovers and children will adore, and a centrepiece for the Christmas season year after year.

Kit includes: 18-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Anchor 100% cotton and metallic threads in 49 colours, a needle, a symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the engine and its red wheels, then Santa and the presents, and finish with the snowy trees and metallic highlights using the symbol chart.

Finished size: 42×28 cm (16.5×11 in). A festive picture to hang every December and a wonderful gift for train lovers.
