Stitch White Roses, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — big, loose blooms in white, soft lilac and pale blue with golden centres fill the picture among dark green leaves, painted in a bold, expressive watercolour style with dripping edges at the bottom.

A little stitcher's folklore: white roses have long stood for new beginnings and true love, and a bouquet of them was traditionally given to wish someone a fresh start.

Why this kit: a striking, modern floral that looks like a painting on the wall. The painterly shading is a joy for stitchers who enjoy colour blending.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Anchor 100% cotton threads in 50 colours, a needle, a symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the golden centres and the darkest shadows between the petals, then blend out to the pale edges, and finish with the leaves and dripping background using the symbol chart.

Finished size: 32×32 cm (12.6×12.6 in). A statement floral for a modern living room and a lovely wedding or new-home gift.
