Stitch Cottage Garden, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S Gold Collection — a thatched cottage with a white picket fence sits behind a glorious summer garden of foxgloves, sunflowers, roses and lavender, with a little black dog trotting along the stepping-stone path. Based on artwork by Richard Macneil.

A little stitcher's folklore: country gardeners say that the more flowers you grow by your door, the more friends will knock on it.

Why this kit: a joyful English cottage garden scene with 60 colours — a real treat for gardeners and experienced stitchers.

Kit includes: 18-count Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Anchor 100% cotton threads in 60 colours, 2 needles, a black-and-white symbol chart with coloured backstitch and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the cottage and path, then the dog and the big flowers in front, and finish with the trees and sky using the symbol chart.

Finished size: 46×32 cm (18.1×12.6 in). A summery garden picture for the living room and a wonderful gift for gardeners.
