Stitch The Birds – Autumn, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — two little brown songbirds nestle among a lush arrangement of burgundy, cream and golden autumn flowers and leaves, with a moth and a butterfly fluttering above.

A little stitcher's folklore: country folk said that birds singing among the autumn leaves are thanking the year for its harvest.

Why this kit: a warm, elegant autumn piece from a four-seasons bird series — beautiful alone or as part of a set.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Anchor 100% cotton threads in 37 colours, a needle, a black-and-white symbol chart with coloured backstitch and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the birds, then the deep burgundy flowers, and finish with the pale leaves, moth and butterfly using the symbol chart.

Finished size: 21×21 cm (8.3×8.3 in). A warm autumn picture to frame and a thoughtful gift.
