Stitch The Birds – Spring, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — two little sparrows perch among a spring posy of pink camellias, blossom and berries, with a pale butterfly fluttering nearby.

A little stitcher's folklore: country folk said that sparrows chattering among the blossom means spring has truly arrived and the last frost has gone.

Why this kit: a fresh, pretty spring design from the four-seasons bird series — lovely on its own or as part of a set.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Anchor 100% cotton threads in 35 colours, a needle, a partially coloured chart with coloured backstitch and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the sparrows, then the pink flowers, and finish with the leaves, berries and butterfly using the partially coloured chart.

Finished size: 22×21 cm (8.7×8.3 in). A fresh spring picture to frame and a sweet gift.
