Stitch Picasso's Colors, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S Gold Collection — a guilty-looking basset hound lies in an artist's studio, his ears and nose splashed with paint, surrounded by tipped-over paint pots, squeezed tubes, brushes and a gilded mirror. Based on artwork by Marcello Corti.

A little stitcher's folklore: artists like to say the best studio assistant is a dog — he never criticises your work, only adds a few colours of his own.

Why this kit: a funny, richly detailed scene from the Luca-S Gold Collection with 62 colours — a treat for dog lovers and anyone who paints.

Kit includes: 16-count Zweigart Aida with a printed counting grid (100% cotton), Anchor 100% cotton threads in 62 colours, 2 needles, a needle threader, a black-and-white symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the basset hound's face and ears, then the bright paint pots and tubes, and finish with the floor and studio background using the symbol chart.

Finished size: 40×29 cm (15.7×11.4 in). A playful picture for a studio or craft room and a great gift for artists and dog lovers.
