Stitch The Oak Grove, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — a reproduction of a forest landscape by the Russian painter Ivan Shishkin: great old oaks with sunlit, twisting trunks spread their dark green crowns over a summer meadow, with patches of light falling across the grass and wildflowers.

A little stitcher's folklore: Shishkin was nicknamed the 'tsar of the forest', and it's said he could name every tree by the sound of its leaves. Old country folk believed an oak grove was the safest place to shelter in any storm.

Why this kit: a grand, panoramic landscape for lovers of classic paintings and the countryside. It's a big, satisfying project that makes a real statement over a sofa or fireplace.

Kit includes: 18-count ivory Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Anchor 100% cotton threads in 34 colours, a needle, a symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Work the chart page by page from one side, starting with the tree trunks and the bright patches of sunlight, then fill the foliage and meadow around them.

Finished size: 71×45 cm (28×17.7 in). A classic landscape for the living room wall and a fine gift for nature and art lovers.
