Stitch Basket of Pink Roses, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — an overflowing wicker basket of soft pink garden roses tips over on a table, with blooms and leaves tumbling out across the cloth. Warm browns, rosy pinks and a pale turquoise background give it the feel of an old Victorian painting.

A little stitcher's folklore: in the Victorian language of flowers, pink roses meant gratitude and grace, and a whole basket of them was the finest thank-you a guest could give.

Why this kit: a romantic, vintage-style floral that looks wonderful in a traditional living room or bedroom. The layered rose petals are a real pleasure for stitchers who enjoy shading.

Kit includes: 18-count ivory Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Anchor 100% cotton threads in 48 colours, a needle, a symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the roses in the centre of the basket, working each bloom from its dark heart to the pale outer petals, then stitch the wicker, leaves and background using the symbol chart.

Finished size: 42.5×34 cm (16.7×13.4 in). A timeless floral picture for the home and a heartfelt thank-you gift.
