Stitch Vase with Hydrangeas, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — great heads of blue and white hydrangeas overflow a blue-and-white porcelain vase on a wooden table, with fallen florets scattered around it against a soft brown background.

A little stitcher's folklore: hydrangeas change colour with the soil beneath them, and gardeners said a blue hydrangea by the door showed a house full of gratitude.

Why this kit: a classic, elegant still life in cool blues on ivory Aida — a timeless piece for traditional interiors.

Kit includes: 16-count ivory Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Luca-S 100% cotton threads in 40 colours, a needle, a black-and-white symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the darkest blue florets, then the pale blue and white blooms, and finish with the porcelain vase and background using the black-and-white chart.

Finished size: 32×33 cm (12.6×13 in). An elegant blue floral still life to frame and a lovely gift.

This arrived quickly and I cannot wait to get started. It looks fabulous. I am making for a gift for a dear friend who loves Hydrangeas, and the colors Blue and White. She will love it.
