Stitch Bouquet with Pansies, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — a blue-and-white jug on a sunny windowsill holds golden, violet and white pansies with tall sprays of purple lilac, against a pale blue window. Based on artwork by Peter McGowan.

A little stitcher's folklore: the pansy's name comes from the French 'pensée' — a thought — and giving pansies meant 'you are in my thoughts'.

Why this kit: a fresh, cheerful floral in a tall format with 58 colours — lovely beside a window or in a narrow space.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Luca-S 100% cotton threads in 58 colours, 2 needles, a black-and-white symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the golden and violet pansy faces, then the lilac sprays, and finish with the jug, windowsill and window using the black-and-white chart.

Finished size: 25×36 cm (9.8×14.2 in). A cheerful windowsill floral to frame and a thoughtful gift.
