Stitch Mediterranean Fig Mosaic, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — ripe purple figs, one split open to show its jewel-like centre, sit on a sprig of green leaves within a frame of blue, green and terracotta majolica tiles.

A little stitcher's folklore: in the Mediterranean the fig tree is a symbol of abundance, and sharing figs was a sign of lasting friendship.

Why this kit: a fresh, graphic design with 40 colours at an intermediate level — pairs beautifully with the other Luca-S tile designs.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Luca-S 100% cotton threads in 40 colours, 2 needles, a partially coloured chart with coloured backstitch and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the figs and leaves, then work the tiles one square at a time using the partially coloured chart.

Finished size: 25.5×25.5 cm (10×10 in). A sunny kitchen picture and a lovely gift for cooks and travellers.
