Stitch Mosaic Heart of the Pomegranate, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — two glossy red pomegranates, one broken open to reveal its ruby seeds, rest on green leaves within a frame of red, blue, green and gold patterned tiles.

A little stitcher's folklore: the pomegranate, with its hundreds of seeds, was a symbol of abundance and good fortune for the year ahead.

Why this kit: a rich, graphic design with 44 colours at an intermediate level — part of the Luca-S Mediterranean tile series.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Luca-S 100% cotton threads in 44 colours, 2 needles, a partially coloured chart with coloured backstitch and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the pomegranates and seeds, then the leaves, and work the tiles one square at a time using the partially coloured chart.

Finished size: 25.5×25.5 cm (10×10 in). A vibrant kitchen picture and a lovely housewarming gift.
