Stitch The Dalmatian, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — a spotty Dalmatian with warm amber eyes and a pink tongue peeks out from soft grey and taupe watercolour washes. The design fits the round hoop included in the kit, ready to hang when you finish.

A little stitcher's folklore: Dalmatians once ran beside horse-drawn fire engines, and firemen said a spotted dog at the station kept the whole crew lucky.

Why this kit: a bold black-and-white portrait with only 32 colours — quick to stitch and comes with its own hoop to frame it.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Luca-S 100% cotton threads in 32 colours, a needle, a white round embroidery hoop (20.5 cm), a partially coloured chart with coloured backstitch and instructions. The hoop doubles as a ready-made frame.

Start with the eyes and nose, then the black spots, and finish with the white coat and grey washes using the partially coloured chart.

Finished size: 15×16 cm (5.9×6.3 in). A striking hoop art portrait ready to hang and a fun gift for Dalmatian fans.
