Stitch Composition With Poppies, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — a crescent wreath of bright red and coral poppies, blue cornflowers, buds and trailing tendrils curves around the hoop, leaving a clean white centre. The kit includes the round hoop, so it's ready to hang when finished.

A little stitcher's folklore: poppies stood for sleep and sweet dreams in old country gardens, and a poppy wreath over the bed was said to keep nightmares away.

Why this kit: a vivid summer wreath that comes with its own hoop — no framing needed, and lovely as a gift.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Luca-S 100% cotton threads in 42 colours, a needle, a white round embroidery hoop (20.5 cm), a partially coloured chart with coloured backstitch and instructions. The hoop doubles as a ready-made frame.

Start with the red poppy petals and dark centres, then the cornflowers and buds, and finish with the leaves and tendrils using the partially coloured chart.

Finished size: 17×17 cm (6.7×6.7 in). A bright hoop art wreath ready to hang and a cheerful gift.
