Stitch The German Shepherd, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — a noble German Shepherd with tan and black markings, pricked ears and a happy open mouth turns in profile against slate-blue watercolour splashes. The design fits the woodgrain oval hoop included in the kit.

A little stitcher's folklore: German Shepherds were bred to guard the flock, and farmers said a shepherd dog at the gate was worth three locks on the door.

Why this kit: a proud, loyal portrait on fine 18-count Aida with its own woodgrain oval hoop — no framing needed.

Kit includes: 18-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Luca-S 100% cotton threads in 37 colours, 2 needles, a woodgrain oval embroidery hoop (22×27 cm), a partially coloured chart with coloured backstitch and instructions. The hoop doubles as a ready-made frame.

Start with the eye, nose and open mouth, then the black saddle and tan coat, and finish with the blue splashes using the partially coloured chart.

Finished size: 17×21 cm (6.7×8.3 in). A proud hoop art portrait ready to hang and a fine gift for dog lovers.
