Stitch The Dachshund, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — a glossy chocolate-and-tan Dachshund with long silky ears and a blue neckerchief gazes out with soulful eyes from soft blue watercolour washes. The woodgrain oval hoop is included, ready to hang when finished.

A little stitcher's folklore: Dachshunds were bred to follow badgers underground, and their owners say there's no burrow — or sofa cushion — they can't get into.

Why this kit: a charming portrait for sausage-dog fans, with its own woodgrain oval hoop — no framing needed.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Luca-S 100% cotton threads in 40 colours, 2 needles, a woodgrain oval embroidery hoop (22×27 cm), a partially coloured chart with coloured backstitch and instructions. The hoop doubles as a ready-made frame.

Start with the eyes and nose, then the glossy coat and long ears, and finish with the blue neckerchief and washes using the partially coloured chart.

Finished size: 16×17 cm (6.3×6.7 in). A charming hoop art portrait ready to hang and a lovely gift for dog lovers.
