Stained Glass Black Cat Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle by Wizardi F07N9-14

Piece together a stained glass black cat, a wooden jigsaw puzzle by Wizardi: a sleek black cat sits in silhouette before a tall arched stained-glass window, its green eyes and whiskers catching the light, framed by red and yellow roses.

A little puzzler's folklore: sailors and old shopkeepers kept black cats for luck, and many still say a black cat brings good fortune.

Why this puzzle: if you love cats, the glowing jewel-toned window behind the dark silhouette makes a striking picture to frame.

In the box: laser-cut wooden pieces printed with the picture, a mix of classic interlocking pieces and whimsy pieces cut as little animals and figures such as giraffes, butterflies and dragonflies, packed in a gift box with the full picture on the front for reference. The box rates it 5A Challenger. Not included: a puzzle board or frame.

How to build it: turn every piece picture-side up, pick out the straight edges and the whimsy figures first, then sort the rest by colour and build inwards, using the box picture as your guide; the wood pieces lock firmly, so a finished section can be moved without falling apart.

Finished size 29.5 x 29.5 cm (11.6 x 11.6 in), a square A3 picture, so it fits a coffee table while you work and a frame afterwards; a lovely gift for puzzle fans, animal and nature lovers and anyone who wants a calm, screen-free evening, and it goes back in the box to build again.
