Count Cat's Study DIY Book Nook Kit 7 in by Wizardi F07M5-69-SD03

A dark arched cabinet with carved cat-shaped doors and a lettered sign opens onto a cosy study: a bespectacled cat in a dressing gown sits reading in a tufted red armchair beside a crackling fireplace, his feet on a footstool, with tall wooden shelves of books, candlesticks, framed portraits, a grandfather clock and a chequered rug filling the room.

A little crafter's folklore: cat owners say every cat secretly runs the house, and miniaturists like to put the count's favourite book open on his lap.

Why this kit: if you love cats and cosy libraries, this nook has real personality, with cat-shaped doors and a fireside glow from the touch-switch light.

In the box: pre-cut and printed wooden sheets for the cabinet, doors and base, printed paper sheets for the wallpaper, books, pictures and signs, miniature furniture and accessories, an LED light with a touch switch, and an illustrated instruction manual. Not included: batteries, glue and small tools such as scissors and tweezers.

Part of the same library series as Bookshop Memories, Owl Bookstore and Count Cat's Study, each a cabinet whose doors open onto a lit little room. Build tip: assemble the cabinet shell and base first, furnish the room from the back wall forward, fit the light last, and check the doors open freely before the glue sets.

Size: about 17 cm tall (6.7 in), with an 11.5 x 10 cm footprint (4.5 x 3.9 in). A cosy display for a desk or bookshelf, and a thoughtful gift for book lovers. Recommended for ages 14 and up.
