Stitch Terrace with Flowers, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — a sunny terrace spills over with red and pink geraniums and white blossom in pots, beside an open blue window and a rustic chair holding a bowl of green apples. Warm stone and cool blues give it a lazy Mediterranean afternoon feel.

A little stitcher's folklore: in southern villages, a window full of red geraniums was said to keep bad luck away — and to tell the neighbours someone cheerful lived there.

Why this kit: a colourful, sunny scene that brings holiday memories home, full of flowers to keep every session interesting.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Luca-S 100% cotton threads in 50 colours, a needle, a symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the chair and window frame, then fill in the geraniums and blossom, and finish with the wall and shadows using the symbol chart.

Finished size: 38×32 cm (15×12.6 in). A sunny terrace picture for the kitchen or sunroom and a cheerful gift for gardeners.
