Stitch Amsterdam, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — tall gabled canal houses in red brick line a quiet canal, with a stone bridge, tour boats, bicycles and leafy spring trees along the water's edge.

A little stitcher's folklore: Amsterdammers say every canal house leans a little forward so it can hear the gossip on the bridge below.

Why this kit: a charming city scene full of Dutch character, with a manageable 36 colours for stitchers who love travel pictures.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Luca-S 100% cotton threads in 36 colours, 2 needles, a black-and-white symbol chart with coloured backstitch and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the bridge and boats, then the canal houses, and finish with the trees and sky using the symbol chart.

Finished size: 42×30 cm (16.5×11.8 in). A charming Amsterdam scene for the study or hallway and a lovely gift for travellers.
