Stitch Eastern Bluebirds, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — five plump little birds in blue and golden yellow huddle together on a snowy branch, with snowflakes drifting down against a deep blue winter sky.

A little stitcher's folklore: bluebirds have long been the bird of happiness, and seeing a row of them together in the snow was said to promise a joyful new year.

Why this kit: a sweet, cosy winter design with just 27 colours — a relaxing stitch and a cheerful picture for the cold months.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Luca-S 100% cotton threads in 27 colours, a needle, a partially coloured chart with coloured backstitch and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the birds' golden breasts and blue wings, then the branch, and finish with the snow and sky using the partially coloured chart.

Finished size: 22×21 cm (8.7×8.3 in). A cosy winter bird picture to frame and a lovely gift for bird lovers.
