Stitch Summer Splendor, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — a cobbled street winds between brick houses smothered in climbing roses and flower boxes, beside a canal with moored boats, a blue bicycle with a flower basket and a ginger cat sunning itself.

A little stitcher's folklore: it's said that a cat sleeping on your doorstep on a summer's day means good friends will soon come to call.

Why this kit: a sunny, richly detailed village scene with 60 colours, on Aida with a printed grid that makes counting easier.

Kit includes: 16-count Zweigart Aida with a printed counting grid (100% cotton), Luca-S 100% cotton threads in 60 colours, 2 needles, a needle threader, a partially coloured chart with coloured backstitch and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the bicycle and cat, then the houses and flower boxes, and finish with the canal, boats and sky using the partially coloured chart.

Finished size: 35×35 cm (13.8×13.8 in). A cheerful summer picture for the hallway or living room and a lovely gift for travellers.
