Stitch Donkeys' Yard, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — three donkeys lean over a wooden gate into a meadow of poppies and foxgloves, where white geese, ducks and rabbits wander below a thatched farmhouse.

A little stitcher's folklore: a donkey on the farm was said to protect the other animals and keep the whole yard lucky.

Why this kit: a charming country scene after artwork by Richard Macneil, with 51 colours on Aida with a printed grid.

Kit includes: 16-count Zweigart Aida with a printed counting grid (100% cotton), Luca-S 100% cotton threads in 51 colours, 2 needles, a needle threader, a partially coloured chart with coloured backstitch and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the donkeys' faces, then the geese and little animals, and finish with the meadow flowers and farmhouse using the partially coloured chart.

Finished size: 39×32 cm (15.4×12.6 in). A cheerful country picture for the kitchen and a lovely gift for animal lovers.
