Stitch Forest Friends, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — two jolly gnomes in tall red hats stand in the snow with a candy cane and a stocking holding a ginger kitten, joined by a red squirrel, framed by pine boughs, cones and holly berries.

A little stitcher's folklore: Scandinavians leave a bowl of porridge out for the Christmas gnome, who protects the home and its animals all winter.

Why this kit: a cheerful Christmas design with 38 colours at an intermediate level.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Luca-S 100% cotton threads in 38 colours, 2 needles, a partially coloured chart with coloured backstitch and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the gnomes' beards and hats, then the kitten, squirrel and candy cane, and finish with the pine frame using the partially coloured chart.

Finished size: 25×25 cm (9.8×9.8 in). A fun Christmas decoration to bring out every December and a lovely festive gift.
