Stitch Autumn Berries, a small counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a yellow and black great tit hangs from a curving branch hung with bright red autumn berries, in a light, airy style. Worked in 15 colours of DMC stranded cotton on white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: songbirds feasting on berries were said to promise a hard winter — and a well-fed garden to see them through. Stitchers say this little bird is stocking up for the season.

Why this kit: if you love garden birds, this small autumn design is quick and pretty, with lots of open fabric. A lovely gift for bird watchers.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 15 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the bird's black head and yellow breast, then the red berries. Finish with the curving branch.

Finished size: 12.5×12.5 cm (4.92×4.92 in). A small autumn picture to frame and a lovely handmade gift.
