Stitch Mills, a small counted cross stitch kit by RTO — an old wooden windmill with white sails stands beside a bank of red climbing roses under a pale blue sky. Worked in 26 colours of DMC stranded cotton on white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: windmill sails were once set in special positions to share news with the village — and turning toward a windmill was said to bring luck to travellers. Stitchers say this one is turning your way.

Why this kit: if you love countryside scenes, this little windmill with roses is charming and quick to stitch. A lovely gift for travellers and fans of Dutch and English country style.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 26 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the windmill and its sails, then the red roses. Finish with the sky and grass.

Finished size: 9×13.5 cm (3.54×5.31 in). A small countryside picture to frame and a charming handmade gift.
