Stitch Suspension Bridge Hercilio Luz, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — the steel towers and sweeping cables of the famous bridge in Florianópolis, Brazil, stretch across blue water under a bright sky, with a bank of red and orange wildflowers in the foreground. Worked in 32 colours of DMC stranded cotton.

A little stitcher's folklore: bridges are said to bring luck to anyone crossing to a new chapter, and flowers at the start of a journey were an old wish for a safe road. Stitchers say this one carries you somewhere sunny.

Why this kit: if you love travel pictures with a pop of colour, this bridge-and-flowers view is a small but satisfying stitch. A thoughtful keepsake for anyone who has visited Brazil, or who loves engineering and landmarks.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 32 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the grey-blue towers and cables to set the lines of the bridge, then stitch the water. Finish with the flower meadow, where the reds and oranges bring the whole picture to life.

Finished size: 9×13.5 cm (3.54×5.31 in). A bright landmark picture to frame and a lovely gift for travellers.
