Stitch Forest Buttonholes, a small counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a sweet little posy of wildflowers — pink heather, purple clover, blue cornflowers, lavender and green sprigs — tied with a golden ribbon. Worked in 24 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 16-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: a small posy of wildflowers was an old token of friendship and love, and a buttonhole of heather was worn for luck. Stitchers say this one brings good wishes to whoever receives it.

Why this kit: if you love small, pretty florals, this posy is a quick, charming stitch — perfect as a card, mini frame or gift. A lovely thank-you or friendship present.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 24 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the flowers, stitching each colour group in turn, then the stems. Finish with the golden ribbon.

Finished size: 12×9 cm (4.72×3.54 in). A small floral picture for a mini frame or card, and a sweet handmade gift.
