Stitch With the Flavour of Salt, Wind and Sun, a small counted cross stitch kit by RTO — an old blue wooden rowing boat rests on the grassy shore among red poppies, with the bright blue sea stretching behind. Worked in 30 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 16-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: fishermen painted their boats blue for protection at sea, and poppies by the shore were said to bring a calm summer. Stitchers say this boat is ready for a peaceful day.

Why this kit: if you love the seaside, this little boat-and-poppies scene is bright, cheerful and quick to stitch. A lovely gift for beach lovers and part of RTO's seaside series.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 30 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the blue boat and its planks, then the red poppies. Finish with the grass and the sea behind.

Finished size: 9.5×14 cm (3.74×5.51 in). A small seaside picture to frame and a cheerful handmade gift.
