Stitch Summer Colours, a small counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a stone cottage with a red roof nestles among tall dark pine trees above a garden full of purple asters and pink flowers. Bold, painterly colour on white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: pine trees by a house were said to bring long life and protection, and asters were planted for love and good luck. Stitchers say this little cottage is the cosiest in the forest.

Why this kit: if you love woodland cottages, this small scene is quick and charming. A lovely gift, and one of four Summer Colours designs that look great framed as a set.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in all the colours you need, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the cottage and its red roof, then the pine trees. Finish with the purple asters in the garden.

Finished size: 11×11 cm (4.33×4.33 in). A small, cosy landscape to frame and a charming handmade gift.
