Stitch Observer, a small counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a grey tabby cat with golden eyes peeks out from under a cosy striped pink knitted blanket, keeping a close watch. Worked in 34 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 16-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: a cat watching from under a blanket was said to be guarding the house while pretending to sleep. Stitchers say nothing gets past this one.

Why this kit: if you love cats and cosy designs, this little observer is quick and full of character. A lovely gift for cat owners and anyone who loves a warm blanket.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 34 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the golden eyes and face, then the tabby fur. Finish with the pink knitted stripes of the blanket.

Finished size: 9×12.5 cm (3.54×4.92 in). A cosy little cat picture to frame and a quick handmade gift.
