Stitch Forest Decorations, a small counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a red and white spotted toadstool and a baby mushroom sit among green moss, blue berries and golden grasses, beneath a dewy spider web. Worked in 20 colours of DMC stranded cotton on brown Aida, which makes the colours glow.

A little stitcher's folklore: a ring of red toadstools was said to mark where fairies danced the night before. Stitchers say this one is the fairies' favourite.

Why this kit: if you love woodland and cottagecore designs, this little toadstool is quick and striking on the dark fabric. A lovely gift for nature lovers and autumn decor.

Kit includes: 14-count brown Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 20 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the red cap and white spots, then the stem and baby mushroom. Finish with the moss, berries and the sparkling web.

Finished size: 11×15 cm (4.33×5.91 in). A striking little woodland picture to frame and a quick handmade gift.
