Royal Cat Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle by Wizardi F07N9-33

Piece together a royal cat, a wooden jigsaw puzzle by Wizardi: a long-haired orange and cream cat sits inside an ornate stained-glass style round medallion, framed by gold scrollwork and small blossoms on a teal backdrop.

A little puzzler's folklore: in ancient Egypt cats were treated like royalty, and this one clearly knows it.

Why this puzzle: if you love cats with a regal touch, the gold scrollwork frames a perfect portrait.

In the box: laser-cut wooden pieces printed with the picture, a mix of classic interlocking pieces and whimsy pieces cut as little animals and figures such as giraffes, butterflies and dragonflies, packed in a gift box with the full picture on the front for reference. The box rates it 5A Challenger. Not included: a puzzle board or frame.

How to build it: turn every piece picture-side up, pick out the curved rim and the whimsy figures first, then sort the rest by colour and build inwards, using the box picture as your guide; the wood pieces lock firmly, so a finished section can be moved without falling apart.

Finished size 29.7 cm (11.7 in) across, a round picture, so it fits a coffee table while you work and a frame afterwards; a lovely gift for puzzle fans, animal and nature lovers and anyone who wants a calm, screen-free evening, and it goes back in the box to build again.
