Stitch Red Crane's-Bill, a counted cross stitch cushion kit by RTO — clusters of bright red geranium blooms on tall stems rise above lush green leaves, painted in fresh watercolour on white. Worked in 28 colours of DMC stranded cotton on white Aida, ready to make into a 40×40 cm cushion front.

A little stitcher's folklore: red geraniums on the windowsill were said to protect the home and bring love and happiness inside. Stitchers say this cushion brings the whole windowbox indoors.

Why this kit: if you love classic garden flowers, this geranium cushion is fresh, cheerful and useful. A lovely gift for gardeners and cottage-style homes.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 28 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A cushion insert and backing fabric are not included.

Start with the red flower heads, working the darker reds first, then the stems and leaves. Once finished, sew it onto a cushion backing with an insert of your choice.

Finished size: 40×40 cm (15.75×15.75 in). A cheerful geranium cushion front and a lovely handmade gift.
