Stitch Holland Landscape, a mini counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a brown windmill stands beside a white cottage with a red roof and a leafy tree, with a white sailboat moored on a flower-lined canal. Worked in 28 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 14-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: Dutch millers set their windmill sails in special positions to share news with the village, and a turning mill meant good times. Stitchers say this one is signalling a happy day.

Why this kit: if you love Dutch countryside and travel, this small scene is bright, cheerful and quick to finish. A lovely gift for travellers and a great beginner project.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 28 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the red roof and white cottage, then the windmill. Finish with the tree, the sailboat and the flowery canal.

Finished size: 9×13 cm (3.54×5.12 in). A cheerful little travel picture to frame and a quick handmade gift.
