Stitch Nesting Box, a mini counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a weathered wooden birdhouse with a heart-shaped opening hangs among plump red rosehips and a sprig of green fir. Worked in 15 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 14-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: putting up a nesting box was said to invite happiness and a new family to the garden every spring. Stitchers say this one has a heart to welcome everyone.

Why this kit: if you love garden and rustic designs, this little birdhouse is quick and cosy to stitch. A lovely small gift for gardeners and bird lovers.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 15 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the red rosehips, then the grey-brown wood of the birdhouse and its heart. Finish with the green fir sprig.

Finished size: 10.5×11 cm (4.13×4.33 in). A cosy little garden picture to frame and a quick handmade gift.
