Stitch Girolle, a mini counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a golden-orange chanterelle mushroom with a lilac spiral-shelled snail on top and bright red berries at its base. Worked in 15 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 14-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: golden girolles were called the gold of the forest, and finding them meant a rich autumn ahead. Stitchers say this snail has found treasure.

Why this kit: if you love woodland details, this little mushroom is quick, bright and great for beginners. A lovely small gift, and a pair with RTO's Russula.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 15 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the snail's spiral shell, then the orange mushroom with its folds. Finish with the red berries and leaves.

Finished size: 10×11.5 cm (3.94×4.53 in). A sweet little woodland picture to frame and a quick handmade gift.
