Build a pink epiphyllum, a mini building block flower kit by Wizardi: a layered bloom of soft pink inner petals and lilac outer petals opens around a sunny yellow heart, set on a green stem above a white planter with tiny flowers.

A little builder's folklore: the epiphyllum, or orchid cactus, blooms for a single night, so seeing one open is said to bring rare good fortune.

Why this kit: if you love pastel flowers, this pink and lilac bloom is one of the prettiest in the mini series.

In the box: ABS building bricks for the flower, stem, leaves, tiny garden details and the white planter, and an illustrated instruction booklet. Not included: glue or tools, because none are needed.

How to build and display: press the bricks together by hand following the numbered steps, starting with the planter and its little garden of pebbles and tiny flowers, then the stem, leaves and the bloom. Collect the series and line them up on a windowsill or shelf; they never need watering.

Size: about 8 x 8 x 15 cm (3 x 3 x 6 in). 162 pieces. A cheerful little desk gift, a party favour or a stocking stuffer, and a relaxing build you can finish in an evening. Recommended for ages 14 and up; small parts, keep away from young children.
