Bead embroidery on wood works by stitching individual PRECIOSA beads through the pre-drilled holes in the plywood blank, following the numbered color chart bead by bead. Once the design is complete, the felt backing is attached to the reverse side.

Fantastic project! It is a difficult one; bead embroidery is much more difficult on wood than on canvas. This one is quite large too, I believe it has about 3700 beads to it. But it's quite beautiful and worth the effort.
