Stitch Redbreast, a mini counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a little robin with a bright orange-red breast, soft brown wings and a perky tail perches on a slim twig beside a single autumn leaf. Worked in 12 colours of DMC stranded cotton on white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: a robin appearing in the garden is said to mean a loved one is visiting, and robins have long been welcomed as the friendly bird of winter and Christmas. Stitchers say this one brings a warm hello every time you look at it.

Why this kit: if you love British garden birds, this robin is a quick, cheerful mini project and an easy first kit. A sweet gift for bird watchers, and a lovely set with the other RTO mini birds.

Kit includes: 14-count white Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 12 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the dark outline and the eye, then fill the orange-red breast and the brown wings. Finish with the twig and the leaf.

Finished size: 10×10 cm (3.94×3.94 in). A small bird picture for a mini frame or Christmas ornament, and a sweet handmade gift.
