Stitch Cherry, a mini counted cross stitch kit by RTO — three glossy red cherries hang from a green branch with fresh leaves and a sprig of pale blue blossom. Worked in 15 colours of DMC stranded cotton on white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: cherries have long been a symbol of luck, sweetness and good fortune, and the first cherry of summer was eaten with a wish. Stitchers say these bring a sweet year.

Why this kit: if you love kitchen and fruit designs, this little cherry picture is quick, cheerful and easy for beginners. A lovely gift for gardeners, and a set with RTO's Wild Strawberries.

Kit includes: 14-count white Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 15 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the red cherries and their highlights, then the stems and leaves. Finish with the little blue blossoms.

Finished size: 10×10 cm (3.94×3.94 in). A small, cheerful picture for a mini frame or kitchen, and a sweet handmade gift.
