Build a red cypress vine, a building block flower kit by Wizardi: big round clusters of tiny scarlet star-shaped flowers top branching dark green stems, bright green leaves fill the middle, and the plant stands in a white brick-pattern pot.

A little builder's folklore: the cypress vine is a hummingbird's favourite, and gardeners say its little red stars bring cheerful visitors to the door.

Why this kit: if you want a bright red plant that is not a rose, these starry clusters are unusual and very cheerful.

In the box: bags of ABS building bricks for the blooms, stems, leaves and pot, and an illustrated step-by-step instruction booklet. Not included: glue or tools, because none are needed.

How to build and display: the bricks press together by hand with no glue, so start with the pot, add the stems and leaves, then click each bloom into place following the numbered steps. Stand it on a desk, bookshelf or windowsill; it never needs water or sunlight, and a soft brush keeps it dust-free.

926 pieces. A lasting flower gift for mom, a friend, a teacher or a coworker, and a calm screen-free hobby for adults and teens. Recommended for ages 14 and up; small parts, keep away from young children.

I haven't opened the box because this is a gift. But from the outside it looks very nice.
