Stitch Lilac Basket, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — an upturned wicker basket spills fragrant pink, mauve and white lilac across the table, with bees drifting in the warm, soft light.

A little stitcher's folklore: country folk said that finding a five-petalled lilac flower brings luck — and you should make a wish and eat it.

Why this kit: a large, romantic floral with 37 colours of Anchor cotton on ivory Aida.

Kit includes: 16-count ivory Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Anchor 100% cotton threads in 37 colours, a needle, a symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the basket weave, then the lilac clusters one by one, and finish with the leaves, bees and background using the chart.

Finished size: 55.5×36.5 cm (21.9×14.4 in). A romantic floral for the living room and a lovely gift for gardeners.
