Stitch Clover, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — tall stems of red clover in full bloom, with round crimson flower heads and fresh green leaves reaching up in a slim botanical study. Worked in 17 colours of DMC stranded cotton on vintage ecru Aida for a soft, old-fashioned feel.

A little stitcher's folklore: clover is the classic lucky plant — finding a four-leaf clover promises good fortune, and red clover was hung over doorways to keep the home safe. Stitchers say this bunch has at least one lucky leaf hidden in it.

Why this kit: if you love wildflowers and botanical prints, this tall, slim design fits beautifully in a narrow space or beside other floral pieces. A lovely gift for gardeners and a thoughtful good-luck present.

Kit includes: 14-count vintage ecru Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 17 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the round clover heads, stitching the darker crimson first, then add the stems and leaves from the top down. The vintage ecru fabric forms the background.

Finished size: 14×23 cm (5.51×9.06 in). A slim botanical picture to frame and a thoughtful handmade gift.
