Stitch Home Sun, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a happy ginger cat with its eyes closed and a contented smile, basking in warm light, painted in bold rainbow watercolour strokes of orange, pink, violet and green. Worked in 32 colours of DMC stranded cotton.

A little stitcher's folklore: a cat sleeping in the sun was long said to bring warmth and good luck into a home, and a ginger cat especially was thought to bring sunshine. Stitchers say this one is the sun of the house.

Why this kit: if you love cats and bright colour, this joyful portrait is fun to stitch and lifts any room. A perfect gift for cat owners — especially anyone with a ginger cat of their own.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 32 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the closed eyes, nose and mouth to set the expression, then build up the orange fur. Work the bright rainbow background last, blending the colours around the head.

Finished size: 17×21.5 cm (6.69×8.46 in). A cheerful cat portrait to frame and a fun handmade gift for cat lovers.
